Issues
The Southeastern Pennsylvania chapter of ADA focuses on many different issues that affect those living in the region. Underlying all of our initiatives are one or more of ADA’s core concerns: progressive values, good government and the advancement of democracy.
Issues we are focusing on at this time include:
Establishing a Philadelphia Public Bank
Passage of H.R. 40 to study Reparations
Support for Environmental Defense Fund's Power Up, America plan
Screening and endorsing candidates in the 2023 election
Focusing on racial equity in all that we do!
ADA has sponsored forums and debates on issues crucial to progressives, including forums on Voter ID, charter schools, reapportionment, education (with former Superintendent William Hite), public banking, and reparations. We have also held mayoral and state legislative candidate debates.
In an extraordinary event during the 2016 Democratic convention, ADA hosted and celebrated the late Congressman John Lewis. And in recent years, we recognized progressives with these awards:
